Yesterday (19th May) was an important day for us as we released our first track - a download stand-alone song called ‘Small Mercy’. Whilst putting out any release is exciting, it’s also a little nerve-racking, waiting to see the response - this is especially true for any artist’s first release - and even more true for the vocalist, as it’s the voice that you hope will connect with the listener.
In the event, we’d like to thank all of you who emailed and commented so generously on our opening salvo - we’re delighted so many of you liked the song, and took the time to tell us so. It’s encouraged us greatly, and we’re currently working to get the next release finished - it’s a four song EP entitled ‘The River’.
Whilst preparing for the release, I’ve been listening to a lot of music, and just wanted to share a few albums… ‘Reckless Skyline’ by Caitlin Canty has been getting a lot of deck time since it was released in January, The Masterson’s ‘Birds Fly South’ (2012) is another that I’ve been spending time with, as is The Parson Red Heads wonderful ‘Yearling’ also from 2012. And my favourite album of 2013, ‘Dear River’ from Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo is still getting plenty of regular play. Jamie
